Microgreens are an intermediate form between the germ and the mature plant you will find in the shop. Microleaves are very healthy! They are rich in vitamins, antioxidants and macronutrients, which are bubbling with nutrients such as iron, potassium and folic acid. The most popular microleaves that you can already find on the market are microgreens of broccoli, mustard, radish or rocket. They are significantly smaller than their adult counterparts. Depending on the plant, the micro-leaves reach a height of 2. 5 cm to 7. 5 cm and are characterized by a very intense flavour.
Why you should eat microgreens?
In addition to many vitamins, the microleaves are also delicious! With their colour and crazy shapes, they entice the eyes and give the dishes a unique character. And as if that weren’t enough, microgreens can be used for many recipes.
They go wonderfully with sandwiches, salads or wraps. Burger, pizza, shakshouka? Here you go! And from the Polish backyard? Dumplings, pates. . . Sprinkle them with microgreens and eat them all!
Sounds like sprouts
A little like that! We all know the popular and healthy sprouts with which we sprinkle the dishes, and that is what we can associate with the sprouts. The difference is that the microgreens are harvested 7-14 days after germination and are therefore no longer germs. What else distinguishes microgreens from sprouts? The microgreens are already rooted – so we don’t eat them completely, but cut them off directly from the ground. In addition, many studies have shown that microgreens provide even more concentrated nutritional values than conventional sprouts.
